Toddlers took a trip to Norbury

Toddlers took a trip to Norbury Court in July to enjoy an hour of fun with the elderly residents- the first of many

Games, balloons and singing kept the young and the elderly entertained for a period of the afternoon.

Norbury hosted the children from Bright Bunnies Day Care, Norwood Road, Sheffield.

The benefit to the residents is indescribable. To see the interactions and the smiles on the faces of the resident’s was a joy to behold.

The children had a lot of fun and the residents who attended were talking about their visitors for days afterwards asking when they were coming again to visit.

Seeing the children seemed to bring the residents  out of themselves, making them more interested and generally happier in what was occurring around them.

It certainly seemed to make the residents week. We will  continue working with the nursery and will be encouraging regular trips to the care home from the two to four-year olds who brightened up the day for the residents.

Some of the residents are grandparents and have visits from family members, but others do not, so they really appreciate care home visits from the children.

The children will we hope benefit from connecting with the residents, especially those who do not have grandparents of their own.

We look forward to the visits recommencing which will be in September
