My husband moved to the Swiss Cottage Residential Nursing Home on 19 November 2017. I have found the management team and staff very caring and co-operative. The care and nursing staff do their best to care for my husband with dignity. Whenever I raise issues of concern, the manager often offers to address them immediately. The quality and portion of food being offered to my husband are very good. Thank you to the manager and her team.

General Information
Swiss Cottage is a Nursing and residential Care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 84 people. Our highly skilled and qualified nursing and care team provide around the clock care and have extensive knowledge as well as first-hand experience of varying medical diagnosis such as: Alzheimer’s Disease, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Disease, Fronto-temporal Dementia, Early Onset Dementia, Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease and Epilepsy to name a few. The home is broken down into 3 units Cedars which is residential and Oaks for complex nursing needs and Pines for Nursing dementia needs meaning that every resident is placed within the correct safe environment for them and their needs.
Facilities and Services
Swiss Cottage is set in 4 acres of beautiful gardens and forest. When the weather permits it, we try to utilise these gardens as much as is possible to allow our residents to enjoy the fresh air and tranquillity. At the front of the home there is a large parking area for the convenience of visitors to the home.
On the ground floor of Swiss Cottage we have 2 dining areas and 2 large lounges, on the first floor there is a lounge and an additional lounge / dining area. These tastefully decorated, large spaces are open living areas for every person living in the home to enjoy. Each floor is also equipped with several bathing facilities and lavatories, with bedrooms with ensuites equipped with wash basins and toilets. Due to our aim of ensuring the happiness, safety and wellbeing of every person living in the home, smoking within the building is highly prohibited. There are several sheltered smoking facilities to the front and rear of the home which can be used at your convenience.
Several professionals visit Swiss Cottage regularly to offer additional services. A hairdresser visits us frequently, who will cut and style your hair for a small fee. A chiropodist visits the home on a regular basis to provide specialist footcare, once again for a small fee. We also receive regular visits from dentists, nurses, GPs and opticians. If you would like to see any of these, please speak to the home manager who will make provisions for them to visit you.
Types of Care Available
Swiss Cottage provides a variety of long and short term residential and nursing care. We tailor our care to each individual and do our utmost to ensure that your requirements and needs are met. If you yourself are unsure what your needs are, an assessor from the home can come and meet you to assess what it is that you require.
We also offer short term care in the form of respite care.
Have visited residents for nearly two years, once a week. I started visiting a friend, then made numerous new friends and continued visiting after the original friend died.
I have always enjoyed the visits, a friendly atmosphere and a welcome from both staff and residents.
The staff are caring and are obviously liked and appreciated by residents.
There is an overall air too of cleanliness and caring.
