Intergenerational Projects
Longmeadow have been involved in intergenerational projects with local schools for over two years now, however most recently we have reached out into the local community and facilitate a toddler session at Longmeadow with support from Boogie Beats. This has been so successful and beneficial not only for the people who access the service that Longmeadow provides but also gives a chance for community ties to strengthen and for parents and childminders outside the home to connect with each other. The children, parents and childminders have found the sessions so beneficial that they have collaborated with Longmeadow to arrange events outside of the monthly sessions such as a planned Christmas nativity with carols. Some people with memory loss or living with dementia who access the service struggle to remember day to day events but can remember the children and look forward to their visits to Longmeadow. We are hoping that this link will continue to develop and strengthen through the years.
