D Day commemoration at Hylton View

At Hylton View, our home near Sunderland, the residents have been commemorating the 80years since the D-Day landings, a military operation which marked the start of the campaign which led to the Allies winning the Second World War.

Residents, some of whom remember those most difficult of times, attending a service, with prayers and reading from relatives and friends of the home, David and Christine. Another friend of Hylton View, Ken, played the bagpipes.

One of our residents, Jim, light a Lamp Light of Peace, at 9.15pm, at the same time beacons were being lit all over the UK. A poignant sight.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to make an important day so special.
